Windows 7 vs. Snow Leopard
Since Windows 7 has been introduced to the market the overwhelming response has been that it is a much better program than the previously featured Windows Vista. However the better thing for the consumer to understand is if the program is better than Snow Leopard. Perhaps the most important distinguishing feature will be the difference in speed between the two.
Overall there are some distinguishing features to consider when looking at the two different programs. Snow Leopard takes less time when moving through the shut down and start up options. Snow Leopard also took less time to convert songs to MP3 through iTunes which is impressive considering that Windows 7 makes a lot of promises in this area when reading marketing and advertising materials.
When it came to programs that required the operating system to multi-task it was apparent that Windows simply could not keep up and in many system programs it might even double the time needed for these performances. However when it came to graphics Snow Leopard was not able to keep up and performed much slower than Windows 7. Further there were other areas such as gaming where the performance of Windows 7 was unmet.
Therefore by looking at this information there will be things that you would want to consider before choosing your operating system. The main thing that you will want to consider is overall what type of use the computer is going to serve. Then from looking at the use you would be able to choose the operating system that is going to work best for you based on speed alone.
Since both of these programs are new to the market there are a number of things to consider. Some of the things include that if you are going to be using your computer for gaming it is better to use the Windows 7 operating system and a pc. However if you are going to be doing a lot of music downloading, using other Mac programs or working on multiple file transfers and big projects at one time then it is smart to buy a Mac and use the Snow Leopard operating system. Both of these systems hit the market very recently so there has not been a lot of feedback on either of these programs.
One thing to consider now is that through dual boot systems you are able to better understand the operating system and how to work things. All things considered there are certainly critics to both of these systems which mainly include those that feel that they are not any better than the current operating systems that they are replacing and that the special modifications were not something that should be considered in the end.
Basically critics believe that Windows 7 is just a cleaned up version of Vista as the same core of the program remains and has been untouched. It is also more user friendly and easier to use so there are those considerations to make as well. Snow Leopard basically is the same program but with internal changes to function which promise more speed and better operating system results. Whether or not this can be considered true is one thing that needs to be continued onto and such.
However some improvements have been made. Both programs claim that they will use less of your hard drive space and keep the system and computer running more quickly. There are still improvements being looked at in this area in order to try and find ways to run the programs and the operating system without taking up as much space.
Snow Leopard requires about 5 GB of free space on the hard drive while Windows 7 requires that there be a recommended 16 GB for the 32-bit operating system and 32 GB for the 64 bit operating system. However with no data being released about Windows 7 it is no wonder that researchers in the industry have looked at the overall amount of hard drive space that is used, in this scenario the amount of space is typical 6-8 GB.
Some other things to consider are the price of the programs. One great thing about Snow Leopard is that it is just $29. Since Windows 7 does not launch until October 22 the price is unknown however it is pretty clear that it will not come close to the price of Snow Leopard.
All things considered there will be those who simply prefer the platform and understanding of Snow Leopard and those who feel the same way about Windows 7. However reviewers will all agree to one thing the backgrounds and the layout of Windows 7 is far more entertaining and interesting in comparison to the same types of graphics that can be seen on your computer with the use of Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard has been referred to as boring while Windows 7 has been referred to as acid trippy in this area.

Snow Leopard is exclusive for MAC platforms while Windows 7 is PC based OS, though they are trying to give similar functions.
