The Nokia 6500 Classic is considered Nokia’s thinnest phone so far. It’s thin as well as stunningly beautiful with its polished metal casing. It has all what most people want from a phone, as it’s quite easy to use and excellent in making calls, taking pictures and playing music. This 3G phone has 1 GB memory and stereo headset, but the thing that is missing is video calling and similarly keypad is quite small and battery life is not impressive at all. It is available in Silver, Black and Bronze.

A battle for the better Apple iPhone 3G or Nokia N96?
The iPhone and the Nokia N96: The two kings for one throne. Princes may be in hundreds, but the king is one who rules the kingdom and it’s not easy to be a King, particularly, if one is not an inborn king. However, so far the kingdom of cellphone industry is concerned, everyone is a self-claimed king. Apart from self-claimed kings there are some king cellphones that have been declared as the king of the ring by the users. Apple’s iPhone 3G and Nokia N96 are two kings of their respective rings, but what if we have to choose one from these two? Here, is a comparison to make it easier to choose from these two.
So far specs are concerned, they both are somewhat similar in specs and have a wealth of applications.
Though the N96 is big and wide, it feels nice in the hand with its decent built and solid chassis. On the other hand, iPhone 3G is smarter and wider than the N96.
LG and Parad join forces for another touchscreen phone.
Have you got tired by seeing all those skeletal Size Zero mobile phones that pranced about on catwalks? Well, there is new Prada fashion phone from LG that is quite similar to real-life figures as its waistline has swollen a bit from 12mm to 17mm.
What’s the reason behind the bulk? A slider QWERTY keypad that allows only a 3-inch 240×400 resolution touchscreen isn’t the right thing to type properly.
The new Prada phone has swollen a bit like a pregnant woman in 1st trimester as it has an Infineon Mp-EH+M180 chipset, Wi-Fi, motion sensor and dual-band HSPDA inside.
So far camera and imaging are concerned; the integrated camera has been upgraded from a worthless 2MP (in the first handset) to a smart 5MP snapper.
We can expect a flamboyant announcement about the price very soon that will be comparable to Apple’s touch phone.
New VoIP mobile service from Tesco
A new VoIP service, which allows users to use Wi-Fi networks for lesser customer’s call costs, has been recently launched by Tesco.
This service called “Tesco Talk Wi-Fi” is a trial product for Freshtel which has been launched two months back.
When an application to the mobile was downloaded, the service syncs with the contact list and SMS inbox automatically.
The application can be run on start-up and it automatically detects the other person is available on the same service or not. It also offers free calls and can route the call at Wi-Fi with lower rate service.

The handsets that are workable with the service are all those that were used for the trial including the Nokia N81, N95, E51 and E65 and in near future more handsets will be added in this array.
LG KC550 Orsay
This is the first mid- range phone that has a 5mp camera that offers outstanding photo and video capabilities. Aside from nice camera and video features, it has a bombastic music player, Wii style games, FM radio and Bluetooth. It looks somewhat heavy and large and may find it with small internal memory, but it can be expanded up to 4GB with memory cards.
With a conventional keypad, the Orsay is a standard slide phone, but at first glance it looks like a phone from new generation of LG touchscreen phones. The nicest thing in the Orsay is its 5mp camera that features an image stabilizer, autofocus, Schneider-Kreuznach lens and a macro feature for close-ups. There is no xenon flash, but it has a powerful LED flash. It has a DVD-like resolution of 720×480 pixels that makes video recording capabilities quite impressive.
Unlike many other slide phones, the Orsay has a considerably large screen .Though resolution of 240×320 pixels is standard, the display is quite nice. The built looks quite large and heavy but to some people. The joystick (doesn’t look durable) is not remarkable, still the keypad works nice.
It also has a bombastic music player and FM radio as well. The integrated memory is just 12 MB, however, it can be expanded up to 4GB if you buy a micorSD memory card. Thus, you will be able to store almost 1,000 songs. The MP3 tracks can also be used as ringtones in the Orsay.
With its auto-rotate function, the photos can be automatically rotated from portrait to landscape form. You can play Wii-style games as it has a motion sensor.
Bluetooth as well as USB are available for connectivity. Though it is not a 3G phone, you can browse the web with GPRS or EDGE and the large screen makes mobile internet experience quite well. Battery life is not bad too as the phone looks quite big and heavy because of that very Battery.

LG reveals KC910 (8MP cameraphone)
Sometimes it feels that Samsung and LG are one and the same mobile phone makers and if you aren’t agree, the imminent release of the KC910 by LG is enough to back up that idea.

Though you may be right that they are not the same cell phone makers, one thing is certain that they produce cell phones that are almost the same in spec and design. But you must keep in mind that they both are from South Korea and that may be a reason.
KC910 is a typical LG brand that has an 8MP camera and 2.8-inch touchscreen (thank God! It’s not similar to Samsung’s recently released i8510 that’s another 8MP from Koreans). The other specs are those that you can expect… .Wi-Fi, HSDPA connectivity, 8GD expansion via MicroSD cards and Bluetooth.
It will be available around Christmas if the timeline is followed. How LG competes in the touchscreen market, let’s wait and see.
Motorola still No.1 handset maker in the US, Strategy Analytics reports.
Some recent statistics suggest that Motorola is still on top in the mobile phone maker stakes in the United States.

Though Motorola losing ground in almost all countries worldwide, it built on a strong history in the US to remain on top. In US, there was 5.3 percent increase in mobile phone sales during the past year.

The increasing importance for high-speed connectivity to the consumers, results LG to leap back into the top two phone makers.
By achieving more than 10 percent of the market share first time in the history of the company, RIM’s BlackBerry also showed some healthy signs in the US market.

The report was authored by the company Strategy Analytics. Neil Mawstone, Director of the company told that Motorola had an excellent quarter and kept its No.1 position in the US market with 25.8 percent market share.
“Its strong distribution network and profound carrier-relationships proved quite helpful to maintain its share in GSM as well as in CDMA markets. Though the company is not out of the woods, there is a silver lining that indicates to stabilization.”
LG Dare really dares and wins
This latest handset from LG really dares to do similar things differently and perhaps that’s why it has been rightly named as LG Dare. It shows some new tricks as weren’t seen before in the touch-screen generation. It allows you to drag and drop icons to form your customized shortcuts on the home screen. Similarly, there is a drawing pad which allows drawing a map or sketch ideas that you can send to a friend through MMS.
The LG Dare can’t be called as an iPhone killer because there aren’t features like Wi-Fi and media player and Web browser are also not up to the mark. But still it is a good choice for those Verizon customers who really want a different touch-screen phone. After a $50 mail-in rebate and 2 year service agreement this LG Dare is priced at $199.
The Dare is smaller in size and that’s why the display is even smaller with just 3-inch space. The other two phones have quite spacious display with 4-plus- inches. No doubt, most of its applications are fine but it prevents us to enjoy the full HTML browser. The screen is colorful with vibrant graphics as its display supports 262,000 colors and a 240×400-pixel resolution. Backlight time, menu fonts, display theme and the dial fonts all are adjustable.
The Dare has a generous 1,000-entry contacts list and in each entry there is room for five numbers and two e-mail addresses. It allows you to pair them with a photo and one out of 26 polyphonic ring tones.
Text messaging, multimedia messaging, a speakerphone, a vibrate mode, a tip calculator, an alarm clock, a speakerphone and a notepad are some essential features of the Dare while full Bluetooth support with stereo A2DP, mobile instant messaging , a USB mass storage mode, voice recording, GPS functionality through Verizon’s VZ Navigator service are some advanced features of the Dare.
Though design and features are somewhat similar to nowadays’ well-known handsets, they have some uniqueness and I have no qualm to say that LG really dares to do similar things in a different way.

Nokia N96 will be released on 1st October in the UK.
Worry no more! If you have really got tired of brickish look and sharp edges of your Nokia N95, here comes the solution as Nokia has confirmed October 1st as the release date for its N96.

The Nokia N95 will be available in T-Mobile, Carphone Warehouse, Phone 4U, Orange and Vodafone.
There is no mention of O2 and reason perhaps is that the bubbly operator has enough on its plate as its running short of iPhone 3G stock.

Or may be Nokia has told O2 ‘It’s ok, you must have fun with your iPhone and we don’t want you to have our all-dancing, all-singing multimedia powerhouse’
We don’t know what the reason is, but basically you can’t get your hands on the set if you are O2.

If you want to get your N96 early, you must donate money to some red pandas somewhere. It’s not likely but Nokia has built an outlet with near the beginning stock and black and white bears have been staffed there.

Before the arrival of Nokia 5800 Tube that is being considered an iPhone killer, many believe that N96 will give iPhone a tough time for a while.

Local newspapers will be viewed on iPhone
To provide the required technology and systems to local paper publishers for mobile phones publication, more than $3 million have been raised by the U.S. Company Verve Wireless in fundraising.
In the U.S. more than 4,000 local newspapers are being powered by Verve with its other clients like Associated press, the New York Times Regional Media Group and McClatchy.
In the Apple Design Award competition, Verve’s iPhone application, which provides daily headlines, and allows readers, to view slideshows, text, videos or email stories to friends, was the runner-up.
According to Verve’s chief executive, Art Howe, who is a former Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter at Philadelphia Inquirer, “To reach people mobile is a better option than print media or Web as its quite compelling like a Web site or printed page.”
Tom Kenny, Verve’s president says in this connection that mobile local papers offer a perfect solution to advertisers as well.
In exchange for a cut of advertising revenue, Verve offers different publishers the software as well as help to develop their mobile sites.
Many major local newspaper publishers have been contacted for updates regarding their plans to show their papers on mobile phones. More updates will be available in the coming days.
