Won’t it be good if our mobile phones are not dependant on electric chargers to get them charged up? Nokia is working on this in developing wireless power delivery which means the mobile phones will draw power from the air and get charged up.

The research has started in the research HQ in UK and the company is sure of coming up with something exiting in the next few years. The principle to this is quite similar to that of RFID tags that is used in travel cards which draws its power from the nearby reader/writer terminals wirelessly.

Nokia has followed the same technology where its prototype mobile phones will draw power from the electromagnetic waves in the air and get them charged up with out need of any wire and electricity. Currently the company has managed to get mobile pull 5mW of power but feels it is not sufficient.

At last the Nokia shop has offered a pre-order price for the Nokia N97 and there is no more long build-ups for the release of a mobile phone.

Those who don’t like to tie themselves down under some long standing contracts, Nokia is offering their coming flagship handset in £499 without any SIM.

Though Nokia hasn’t confirmed any sales date and availability for operators yet, however, according to many retailers the phone will be stocked quite soon.  Carphone Warehouse has revealed that it’s going to make a deal with O2 to stock the phone from the next month. Phones4u also says that the phone will hit its shelves by the end of the next month.

Nokia is going to launch three more phones in its low cost cell phone category that include the Nokia 7020, the Nokia 2720 fold and the Nokia 2730 classic. The nicest piece among them is the Nokia 2730 classic which is available now with 3G connectivity and has become the cheapest model available with this feature.

The Finns is quite habitual to release cell phone with lower prices and have been supplying these handsets to those emerging markets that are only interested in cell phone no matter whether they are loaded with lots of whistles and bells or not.  It’s, indeed, a big step from top cell phone manufacturer to introduce a 3G-enables cell phone with an impressive £71 price tag.

The other included handsets in this list have been made available for Asian markets and this Nokia move indicates that 3G is no more a thing that is limited only to power users.

It has been known that Nokia is about to layoff a portion of almost 1,700 employees as its cost cutting remedy. The said remedy has to be done as there is a need to cope with a fall in demand for mobile phones, lessening their sale and profit generation.

Most of these 1,700 are thought to come from the UK belonging to several of Nokia’s divisions.

The job cut down number in the UK are still undisclosed. It is told that the divisions which will see the slash down of work force will include highly efficient sales and marketing, most active research and development, and corporate offices.

All these divisions have proved themselves as highly progressive and profit generating in the past.

Nokia has announced its partnership with Skype enabling users to make free Skype-to-Skype voice calls. This partnership effects will begin with N97 smartphones. The partnership has been pronounced at Mobile World Congress.

Skype will be providing complete integration to Nokia sets in phone’s contact list. This integration will enable users to see their Skype contacts are online or not.

A Skype call will be initiated using either of the networks: WiFi or 3G. The callers will be le to call a mobile, land line or a Skype user.

It seems that Nokia wasn’t quite contented with the release of its N97 as the QWERTY based mobile function. At least the release of its 5730 XpressMusic suggests so, which is, undoubtedly, a nice addition in the range.

Aside from a slide-out keyboard, the 5730 XpressMusic has a 2-inch QVGA screen and a complete numeric keypad, so a nice choice for those who want to have the concrete feel of available buttons.

Now you can make an email account right from your Nokia handset, as the company has announced the launch of another nice email account feature named Ovi.

Now the beta version of this new PC free email account service is available for public use and it will allow Nokia users to make their new -mail account without even touching their computers and just with their Nokia handsets.

The N96 that has been competing with phones like Sony Ericsson’s XI, Samsung Omina, BlackBerry Storm and Apple’s iPhone 3G and it has also been serving as the Finns key flagship model, but now the N97 handset takes it over.

But the N97 will still take six months to be available in the market and it would definitely need to offer something special as the rival companies are also leaving no stone unturned to take something from the Finns’ lion share.
