These type of phones are rumored to be sourced from France where the law states that they must be sold SIM free, the contrary is happening again through Play.com. However, the price is higher too and so you can see through the proclamation of the “free” SIM.

The Regional Court in Hamburg of Germany has slammed the file hosting company, Rapidshare, with a fine of $34 millions which comes to be 24 Euros. The rule stated is that the company should start filtering some of their content immediately. This has also brought into awareness that the protection associated with GEMA claims to represent over 65,000 composers and decides to protect their rights and power.

The request meant by organization by Hamburg court stated that Rapidshare is not going to make profit from any of the 5,000 music tracks they have from GEMA’s collection. Though they are available through the internet they only have to make sure that they do not use stuff from GEMA’s collection.

Thanks to the bioengineers of Duke University in North Carolina who have developed a new robot that can locate any tiny and minute pieces of metal within the flesh. The human independent machine also guides a needle to the exact location and accurately tells where the metal is.

The engineers initially started with a tabletop robot that had new 3D ultrasound technology incorporated into its eyes. Then an AI program was developed that takes this 3D information and processes it and moves the intelligent robots arms. For testing purpose the researchers used 2mm pieces of needle link shrapnel that are subject to magnetism.

Won’t it be good if our mobile phones are not dependant on electric chargers to get them charged up? Nokia is working on this in developing wireless power delivery which means the mobile phones will draw power from the air and get charged up.

The research has started in the research HQ in UK and the company is sure of coming up with something exiting in the next few years. The principle to this is quite similar to that of RFID tags that is used in travel cards which draws its power from the nearby reader/writer terminals wirelessly.

Nokia has followed the same technology where its prototype mobile phones will draw power from the electromagnetic waves in the air and get them charged up with out need of any wire and electricity. Currently the company has managed to get mobile pull 5mW of power but feels it is not sufficient.
