Since the concept of inventing robots had been introduce to us, everybody seems running to a rat race. They are all wanted to pioneer the robot making technologies. In fact there are several huge cars and engineering companies of the today’s industry are spending millions and millions of dollars for this kind of projects. From automated laundry machine, computers, automated bartender and self running cars up to creating robots to look and act as us humans. Truly robots are now a significant part of our daily lives.
Well who would have thought that this robotic concept would materialize and brought us the harmonious life like we had today living with robots that are already invented? Such great engineering really deserved to be studied further and with the announcement made by Colin Angle the CEO of consumer robotics company iRobot on CNET last 28th May 2009, the threads of education just become more and more futuristic.
What the iRobot company plan is to open the robot building job to anyone who has interest on it. Part of his CNET interview, Mr. Angle said “If you think about iRobot as an employer, we’re not hiring strictly roboticists. Because the thing that a roboticist can do for you is think about and help design the complete system, but that makes you a generalist. Oftentimes, when you’re trying to make a practical robot that can be thrown off buildings or be sold for low price points or whatever, you have the overall architecture, but you need real specialists in mechanical design or optimal power control or whatever that can come out of your basic master’s or bachelor’s or Ph.D. (program) in purely electrical engineering or computer science.”

The inclusion of robots engineering to higher education does really opened a great opportunity for our kids. The idea of bringing the students and robots under one roof of their school would help them learn more about robots and in returned they may develop another machine that could bring more convenient life for us; thanks to iRobot, it’s all now a hands on education.
